The New Berlin Swim Club is a tax exempt, non-profit organization sanctioned by United States Swimming (USS). NBSC operates year round in two sessions. There is a several week break between sessions.
The club is led by Head Coach Pete Zenobi and a Board of Directors composed of parent volunteers. At the beginning of each session, NBSC registers swimmers for participation in either the New Berlin or West Allis locations and offers evening practices five days per week at a pool in both areas. Morning practices are often available during the summer and other select times. Swimmers are assigned to a coach and practice group based on their age and capability. Learning to swim with a swim club is a great alternative to swim lessons and offers much more.
During each session, the club participates in competitive swim meets attended by swimmers from other swim clubs in the region. The focus is on personal improvement and competition as each meet event is organized into heats seeded according to swimmers’ age group and previous best times in the event. Relay events are also offered. USS and Wisconsin Swimming publishes time standards to help swimmers set improvement goals and to define qualification for certain meets such as the Wisconsin state meet. Top swimmers earn awards such as ribbons, medals, and trophies.
NBSC covers its expenses such as coaches’ salaries and travel, pool rental, and administrative costs through registration fees, fundraising, support from corporate sponsors and New Berlin Park and Recreation, and by hosting several swim meets during the year.
In addition to this web site, each family and coach has a mailbox at their pool for exchange of information and club communications. Late breaking adjustments to practice times and swim meet start times are communicated via a telephone hotline that is typically updated by coaches and parent leaders.
NBSC swimmers and parents have a lot of fun and make many lasting friendships. We hold a variety of informal and organized social events during the year including a banquet, pot luck dinners, and so on. If you are considering a swim club, we encourage you to contact us and give NBSC a try.
