Meet Etiquette

Whenever and wherever you wear any item of the team uniform, remember that your actions and words reflect on the team your represent, and behave accordingly. Let your actions reflect the pride you have in the NBSC program.

As a matter of courtesy to the officials and meet hosts, and as a requirement of our insurance coverage, swimmers and parents alike should stay off the deck and competition venue, unless they are competing or serving in an official capacity.

All questions swimmers or parents may have concerning meet results, an officiating call, or the conduct of a meet, should be referred to the NBSC coaching staff only. They will pursue the matter through the proper channels.

Please leave the rest area and the pool area in a neat and clean condition at the conclusion of the meet.

The coaching staff will have the final word with regard to which events a swimmer competes in. NBSC team members are never to scratch or late enter an event without first consulting one of the coaches.

In a meet with preliminaries and finals, it is expected that any NBSC swimmer qualifying to swim in the final will do so, unless the coach agrees otherwise ahead of time.

Whenever there is a system of presenting awards at a meet, it is customary for swimmers to be prompt and to cooperate fully with dignity and respect at the presentation. It is also customary for our swimmers to be polite and modestly thankful for any awards they receive. Don't forget to congratulate other swimmers and to receive like congratulations with poise and a "thank you". Good sportsmanship is essential.
